Research shows that there are many benefits to practicing mindfulness. There is even scientific evidence that shows positive effects on the brain and body including strengthening parts of the brain that deal with focus, self-regulation and decision making. In this course, your little learner will practice “reading their heart” or recognizing (and naming!) their feelings. Through a shared story (I Am Peace by Susan Verde) learners will practice becoming mindful of their body, their mind and their presence. They will practice breathing to calm their bodies and brainstorm times throughout their day when that breathing might come in handy. If time allows, we will role play what it might look like to put mindfulness into action in day to day life. Learners will end the lesson with a short, guided meditation. No prior experience or knowledge necessary.
