In this one-time class, students will learn what mindfulness is and how and why is it good to be mindful. We will discuss how being mindful is good for us and can help us feel calmer and happier. Students will then explore ways in which we can be mindful, such as noticing the sounds we can hear, concentrating on the taste and feel of the food we eat or immersing ourselves in certain activities. Children will then practise a mindful activity. They are then going to look closely and carefully...
Children will learn how feelings can affect people’s bodies and how they behave. They will learn what mindfulness is and what different things they can do to manage big feelings, to help calm themselves down and/or change their mood when they don’t feel good.
As a mental health practitioner and currently supporting the wellbeing of students in schools, I have the understanding and knowledge needed to help students explore and manage their emotions and improve their wellbeing.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
