Mindfulness isn't something most people associate with autism, and yet I believe mindfulness in daily life is essential to a happy autistic experience of the world. I'm not talking about meditation; that's simply one way to do mindfulness. I'm talking about becoming aware of the signals in your body that you need something, or that you're getting upset, or need a break, before those feelings get too big to deal with. This class is taught in English.
I've been engaging in my personal mindfulness practice for many years, and have built up a large library of relaxation exercises, interoceptive activities, and awareness and centering exercises. I used this experience to lead a weekly mindfulness session for teens for several years at the high school where I taught, and now do the same one-on-one for my coaching clients (youth on the autism spectrum and their families).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
