Class Experience

Start your child’s day with calm, clarity, and focus in this Iyengar-inspired yoga class tailored specifically for neurodivergent and neurotypical children. Rooted in the Iyengar tradition, this class emphasizes clear instructions, proper alignment, and mindful movement, creating a structured environment that helps children develop essential life skills such as emotional regulation, balance, focus, and flexibility.

In this 45-minute session, we’ll explore 12 Sun Salutation poses designed to promote mindfulness and help children learn how to connect with their breath and body. These poses are taught step-by-step, ensuring that each child can move at their own pace while benefiting from the structure and clear guidance of the Iyengar method.

Whether your child has ADHD, sensory processing challenges, or simply needs a mindful approach to start the day, this class will provide them with the tools to improve focus, build confidence, and feel more grounded. By incorporating mindfulness and breathwork, children will gain valuable skills in emotional resilience that will benefit them both on and off the mat.

This class is ideal for children aged 8-12 who benefit from structured movement, clear instructions, and mindfulness techniques. Perfect for children who need support with focus, energy regulation, or emotional balance, this class will leave them feeling calm, connected, and ready to approach their day with confidence.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified Yoga Teacher with over 10 years of personal yoga practice and 2+ years of teaching experience, currently completing my 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, which will elevate me to a 500-hour RYT certification. Through my own yoga journey, I’ve gained a deep understanding of practices that resonate with children, especially those with neurodivergent traits. I know firsthand how important it is to have a practice that supports focus, emotional regulation, and calming the mind—tools I integrate into every class to ensure accessibility and engagement for all kids, especially those with diverse learning needs.

While I am not Iyengar-certified, my teaching has been shaped by my exposure to Iyengar principles, which emphasize proper alignment, clear instructions, and mindful movement. I have trained with teachers who emphasize alignment and structured, step-by-step guidance, which is especially beneficial for children, both neurodivergent and neurotypical, as they thrive in a structured environment that promotes focus and builds confidence. These principles help kids learn how to move mindfully and safely, while fostering awareness and body confidence.

I have worked in various settings, including public schools, private sessions, and group classes, where I’ve supported children with emotional, behavioral, and sensory processing needs. I’ve seen firsthand how a structured, alignment-based yoga practice helps children with these needs improve focus, balance, flexibility, and emotional resilience—qualities that are key to helping children thrive in their daily lives. This type of practice is especially effective for children who benefit from clear, step-by-step guidance and a calm, supportive environment.

In this class, we’ll work through 12 Sun Salutation poses, breaking each one down clearly so that children can learn at their own pace. I use my knowledge of alignment and mindful movement to ensure kids move safely, and I offer modifications to accommodate any individual needs, including emotional challenges, sensory processing issues, or physical limitations. Whether your child is a beginner or more experienced, my teaching style supports their progression, fostering confidence, emotional resilience, and a love for yoga.

My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels supported, focused, and relaxed. I’m passionate about helping children develop mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-awareness through yoga—tools that will serve them in all aspects of life, especially as they head into their school day. In every class, I strive to foster a positive environment where kids can find balance, develop greater body awareness, and leave feeling calm and confident, ready to take on the challenges of the day ahead.
