Start the day with calm and clarity in this Iyengar-inspired yoga class designed to support both neurodivergent and neurotypical kids. In this 45-minute session, we’ll guide kids through 12 Sun Salutation poses that promote focus, balance, emotional regulation, flexibility, and mindfulness—without the need for props. Rooted in alignment-based principles from the Iyengar tradition, children will learn how to move mindfully, connect with their breath, and develop a greater awareness of their bodies in space. This class is ideal for children who benefit from a structured, step-by-step approach to movement, fostering confidence, energy management, and improved focus in a fun, grounding way. It’s especially beneficial for kids with ADHD, sensory processing issues, or other challenges related to emotional regulation. Through clear instructions and mindful movements, kids will work at their own pace, understanding the importance of proper alignment and cultivating skills for emotional resilience. Each child will leave feeling more connected, focused, and calm, equipped with tools for navigating their day with greater self-awareness. Perfect for children ages 13-18, this class combines the benefits of yoga with a strong emphasis on mindfulness, helping kids develop emotional regulation, body awareness, and a sense of calm as they prepare for school. Whether your child needs support with focus, energy, or emotional regulation, this class will provide a nurturing space for growth. Join us for a peaceful, grounding start to the day where kids can move with intention, enhance their body awareness, and feel more centered, confident, and ready to take on the day. Ideal For: Children ages 13-18 who benefit from a structured, step-by-step approach to movement. Neurodivergent kids, including those with ADHD, sensory processing challenges, or emotional regulation difficulties. Parents seeking a grounding practice to help their children improve focus, emotional resilience, and mindfulness before school. Teens who need support in managing their energy, developing body awareness, and improving self-regulation through a nurturing and safe environment. Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified Yoga Teacher with over 10 years of personal yoga practice and 2+ years of teaching experience, currently completing my 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, which will elevate me to a 500-hour RYT certification. Through my own yoga journey, I’ve gained a deep understanding of practices that resonate with children, especially those with neurodivergent traits. I know firsthand how important it is to have a practice that supports focus, emotional regulation, and calming the mind—tools I integrate into every class to ensure accessibility and engagement for all kids, especially those with diverse learning needs.
While I am not Iyengar-certified, my teaching has been shaped by my exposure to Iyengar principles, which emphasize proper alignment, clear instructions, and mindful movement. I have trained with teachers who emphasize alignment and structured, step-by-step guidance, which is especially beneficial for children, both neurodivergent and neurotypical, as they thrive in a structured environment that promotes focus and builds confidence. These principles help kids learn how to move mindfully and safely, while fostering awareness and body confidence.
I have worked in various settings, including public schools, private sessions, and group classes, where I’ve supported children with emotional, behavioral, and sensory processing needs. I’ve seen firsthand how a structured, alignment-based yoga practice helps children with these needs improve focus, balance, flexibility, and emotional resilience—qualities that are key to helping children thrive in their daily lives. This type of practice is especially effective for children who benefit from clear, step-by-step guidance and a calm, supportive environment.
In this class, we’ll work through 12 Sun Salutation poses, breaking each one down clearly so that children can learn at their own pace. I use my knowledge of alignment and mindful movement to ensure kids move safely, and I offer modifications to accommodate any individual needs, including emotional challenges, sensory processing issues, or physical limitations. Whether your child is a beginner or more experienced, my teaching style supports their progression, fostering confidence, emotional resilience, and a love for yoga.
My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels supported, focused, and relaxed. I’m passionate about helping children develop mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-awareness through yoga—tools that will serve them in all aspects of life, especially as they head into their school day. In every class, I strive to foster a positive environment where kids can find balance, develop greater body awareness, and leave feeling calm and confident, ready to take on the challenges of the day ahead.
