Class Experience

Each week, students will pick a personal item to share with their peers, based on a specific theme that I have set a week prior to the class. I will open every class with my own item to share, in order to set an example. Next, each student will have 1 to 2 minutes to explain why that particular item was chosen to represent the theme. Following each student's explanation, peers will have an additional 1-2 minutes to ask questions regarding the shared item.

Themes are chosen to spark meaningful discussions and are as follows:

Week of 12/12: Something That Tastes Salty
Week of 12/19: Something That Represents Winter
Week of 12/26: Something That I Take Care Of

Week of 1/2: My Favorite Toy or Game
Week of 1/9: A Picture of My Family
Week of 1/16: Something That Makes Music
Week of 1/23: Something That Grows

Week of 1/30: Something That Can Be Recycled
Week of 2/6: Something That I Drew
Week of 2/13: Two Items That Are Opposites
Week of 2/20: My Favorite Fruit

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have over 10 years of experience as an educator, both in the public and private sector, and specialize in creating Montessori-inspired environments that allow all children to flourish, both emotionally and intellectually.

As a facilitator, I believe that it is most beneficial to provide children with developmentally appropriate experiences structured around play, rather than “instruction.” This is why the majority of my lessons and activities consist of songs, stories, and hands-on exploration.

I have a Master of Science in Education: Early Childhood Education, Birth-Grade 2, and am New York state-certified, Birth through Grade 2.
