Class Experience

Ready for some morning relaxation to start your day? This trice weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), ongoing class is designed to meet that need! Each class will begin with a short introduction exercise (e.g., "What is your favorite animal and why?"). Next, students will participate in a guided relaxation exercise. When possible, the relaxation exercises will be themed to be seasonally appropriate, and often incorporate themes of anxiety reduction, anger reduction, mindfulness, and focusing skills.

This 15 minute class is the shortest class that I offer. I purposefully designed it this way to fit into busy morning schedules. I know how hectic school mornings can be, and how my children tend to react to that busyness. This class is intended to be a short break from the morning chaos, while also fostering a sense of mindfulness and self-awareness that can help students to understand and manage their emotions more effectively.

If for any reason your schedule doesn't fit my listed times, please let me know and I can see about creating a section that better fits your schedule!

My classes are all highly interactive! I always want my students to feel heard and welcomed. As such, I encourage questions, discussion, and interaction between both I and the other students, while also being mindful of those who do not wish to participate. This class is great for those who have taken my other one-time classes, as it reinforces the deep breathing and relaxation concepts from those classes. That being said, this class does not require any prior experience or knowledge, and classes do not build on each other. Feel free to drop in and out as needed!

Please note that this class is not intended to provide therapy.

Our weekly schedule is as follows:

Hello all learners and parents! My name is Mandy and I teach classes designed to help children reduce stress and anxiety. I have 16 years of experience using techniques that are research-based and proven to aid in mind/body relaxation. I have been teaching on Outschool for over 3 years. My goal is to help children learn to cope with and manage anxiety through techniques they can use throughout their lives.

My academic background is in Clinical Psychology. I have both a B.S. and M.S. in Clinical Psychology and have 20 years of experience working with youth. I have worked in a therapeutic setting since 2004, teaching social skills groups, relaxation exercises, art therapy, and play therapy sessions. As a psychometrist, I have extensive experience administering comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and cognitive rehabilitation assessments, including vision therapy and neurofeedback, with children and adolescents. I have worked with a wide range of diagnoses (ADHD, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Autism, Dyslexia, behavior disorders, etc.), ages (age 2 to adult), and intellectual levels (severely delayed to gifted).
