Yoga and mindfulness, at it’s very essence, is stress management for children. This series will run 4 week, no former yoga experience is necessary. Each week participants will be taught the basics of mindfulness, yoga poses (2 new ones each week), breath work and how to CARPE DIEM all while building self-confidence. Students will learn breathwork, karma yoga (doing for others), benefits of a healthy lifestyle, journaling, a yoga flow sequence plus two new poses each class as well as mindfulness and stress management exercises
As a certified USPTA professional (United States Professional Tennis Association), I have been teaching tennis for the past 20 years to ages 3-85. I have specialized in 10 and Under Tennis and Junior Youth Development (18 and under). While I love the game, it really has been a catalyst to teach kids a skill set they need in life off of the court. Confidence, leadership, mindfulness, etc. In recent years, I have become a certified Kidding Around Yoga teacher, giving yet another avenue to work with kids on a skill set I passionately believe is the answer to our future. Mindfulness, character development and kindness.
Karma Yoga (doing thoughtful gestures for others without being asked) practicing newly learned yoga poses and journaling as learned in class.
1 file available upon enrollmentyoga mat, journal or note book, pen and or pencil and water. For weeks three (5/18) they will need a healthy snack accessible. For week for students will need crayons or color pencils and a print out of the attached document (mandolin).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment for this course will be based on if the child had a positive experience and made a connection between yoga and fun!
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
While I will be leading and keeping an eye on your child during class all participants need to be supervised during this class. Please plan on being nearby while your child is taking part. Thank you, kindly!
