Students will learn basic meditation that will improve focus and concentration, flexibility and patience. They will experience calm and tranquil effects that come from meditation that will help to improve emotional challenges and the ability to focus with an open attitude. The breathing techniques covered in the classes will assist all students to access stress reduction, reduced heart rate, calm and mental tranquility and acceptance.
I have been meditating for around 10 years and it is a practice I include in my Yoga classes and practice as well. Meditation was first introduced to me when I attended a Vippassana Meditation 10 day silence retreat. On completion I studied Yoga and Yoga Therapy at Wellpark Natural Therapies College under my teachers, Dr. Pooja and Dr Sridhar Maddela, both learned in the subject of Yoga I enjoyed the practice more and more and gained more calm and well-being mentally, physically and emotionally. Meditation is a growing practice in Schools across the world with fantastic outcomes for the students and their relationships with each other, themselves and the environment. I wish I had been introduced to this practice while still at School.
Students are encouraged to practice meditation and breathing techniques in their own time, however it is optional.
Students just need a quiet and comfortable space to sit for this class. Warm and comfortable clothing to be worn.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
