Mindfulness or paying attention to the present moment is a valuable habit to instill at a young age. Each week learners will share what they are grateful for and will learn a new way of being mindful. Activities will include breathing exercises, moving meditation, art, and mindful eating practice. March 20: Students will bring a sock and beans or tissue paper to make a breathing buddy and they will practice having the breathing buddy on their stomachs and focus on their stomachs going up and down as they breathe. March 27: Students will learn mindfulness through body movement that includes the tree pose, cloud hands, and breathing up and down arms April 3: Students will learn mindfulness through art. They will color with no rules or plans, and make a tape art collage. April 10: Students will learn mindfulness through eating. They will practice (with their food of choice) taking small bites and paying attention to the food as they chew and swallow.
