Students will meet once each week for mindful art lessons, all designed to promote a positive self image and help manage emotions in a safe, encouraging environment.
Class experience
Creative Art is one way that students can explore their emotions, build self esteem, and even relieve stress or anxiety. In this weekly class, students will participate in a variety of art lessons that do all of this and more! Each class will begin with a simple stretch and breathing warm up, followed by reciting a positive affirmation. Next, students will participate in the art lesson of the week. I have taught in the public school setting for over 22 years. During those years, I have used art to help numerous students learn how to manage their emotions and become more focused and calm in class. I am not a certified art therapy instructor, nor a therapist. I am simply a mother and teacher with years of experience using art to heal the mind.
For each class, students will need a pencil with eraser, colored pencils or markers, and plain white copy paper. Other items such as a glue stick, oil pastels, and scissors will also be needed for some lessons.
