Mind Your P's and Q's! Etiquette and Manners for Tweens!

Does your tween need some practice using good manners? This is the class for you! I will introduce three different elements of etiquette including greetings, politeness, and apologies.

We will practice each skill with discussion, role-play, and a fun sorting game!

In learning about greetings, I will introduce ways to help learners remember a new person's name like using the person's name repeatedly and making a word association. 

For politeness, we will brainstorm *magic words* that encompass courtesy like "please", "thank you", and "you're welcome". Learners will be able to share a time when they used these magic words with others, as well as a time they remember someone else used the magic words with them and how it made them feel.

I will then introduce the concept of a four-part apology. First, we admit to our mistake. Next, we explain why it happened. Then, show regret and remorse with "I'm sorry". Last, we explain how we will plan better for how we will fix the mistake we made. I will first pretend I made a mistake and model an appropriate four-part apology. Learners will then get a chance to either pretend to make their own mistake or share a time they needed to apologize to someone and practice making the apology.

As a final review, we will play a fun Kahoot! game!
