Class Experience

Students will learn to see the "second half of the chessboard," which means they will learn to see beyond the moment and factor in the full meaning of a phenomenon that grows exponentially.
As a former engineer and now professional historian, this class combines all of my prior learning. As the creator and teacher of History At Our House, I am striving to teach my students mainly about the *social* consequences of the events we are living through. This will be an indispensable tool for anyone their age!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The inciting phenomenon for this class is the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This is a naturally upsetting phenomenon. Students who are emotionally triggered may be bothered by the mathematical realities involved, but the purpose is to help them understand, and thus feel more empowered through clear thinking.
