Military History: World War II
Class experience
My name is Russell Graff. I am a former high school teacher and a student of history. Together, students and I will be covering the battles, strategies, and tactics of World War II. Every day, we will cover a battle or series of battles from the largest war in history. We will start by discussing the most important players in the conflict, namely how the Axis powers formed and the rise of totalitarian states in the 1930's, and the overall German strategy for European conflict. My hope is...
Students will be told stories about battles. As stories are fundamental to understanding history, they will gain a deeper appreciation for the time, the consequences of military conflict, and stretch their historical imagination.
I have a history degree from an accredited state university, have written on historical topics, and studied the topic for years. Any sensitive topics related to covering World War II will be covered objectively and through historical sources. The teachers bias will not play a factor- I am here to simply describe what happened, to the best of my ability.
I try not to go into depth into the intimate violence of the war, and I certainly don't show images that would be considered graphic. But we are discussing war, and in particular World War II. That means that we have to touch on the following topics that are a little heavy: -Totalitarianism -The Nazis -The Holocaust -Total War
