In this On-Going class students will be presented with a battle map of decisive battles in Military History. Students will take turns using their critical thinking skills and keen insight based upon the Principles of War to participate in a discussion about how the weapons, tactics, strategy and genius of the commander contributed to victory. Students will learn how to read a battle map. Students will learn how to apply the Principles of War to historic battles. Students will learn about weapons, tactics, and strategy.
I hold a Master's Degree in Military History (Land Warfare) from American Military University and am a certified History teacher with 30 years experience. Plus I really like Military History.

We will mainly be talking about tactics, strategy and the Principles of War not the details of combat.
We will mainly be using the West Point Military Atlas maps for our battle analyses. https://www.westpoint.edu/academics/academic-departments/history/atlases We will be using the nine Principles of War as found in U.S. Army Field Manual (FM 3-0); these are included in the class handout.
