This course is for any and all current students or graduates of the Mighty Maestros conducting courses here on Outschool. This is an ongoing social club where we will discuss, practice, and conduct new music each week! Class Structure: 1. Welcome and Introductions for new learners. 2. Stretches: Conducting is athletic, so we will take time to care for our bodies by stretching. 3. Games: We will play games to practice concepts such as cueing, fermatas, and articulations in conducting. 4. Learn about a famous conductor: We will learn about one new conductor each week and discuss his/her life. 5. Learn to conduct a new piece of music: We will practice our conducting!
Learning Goals
Each week, students in this ongoing club will learn:
1. How to improve their conducting skills
2. Famous conductors and their backgrounds
3. How to conduct different pieces of music

Supply List
Students may choose to either: 1) Conduct with a pen, pencil, or baton if they have one 2) Conduct with their hands (no supplies needed)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
We will use Youtube to listen to recordings and practice conducting.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a professional musician with a doctorate degree in flute performance from Michigan State University, a masters in flute performance from Southern Methodist University, and bachelors degrees in music performance and music therapy from the University of Georgia. I have experience both performing in and conducting orchestras around the world! I have played professionally in the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and I have performed in countries like Argentina, Italy, Ireland, Canada, and England.
