Each week, students in this ongoing club will learn: 1. How to improve their conducting skills 2. Famous conductors and their backgrounds 3. How to conduct different pieces of music
I am a professional musician with a doctorate degree in flute performance from Michigan State University, a masters in flute performance from Southern Methodist University, and bachelors degrees in music performance and music therapy from the University of Georgia. I have experience both performing in and conducting orchestras around the world! I have played professionally in the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and I have performed in countries like Argentina, Italy, Ireland, Canada, and England.
Students will be given a different piece of music (via Youtube video) each week to listen to and practice conducting.
Students may choose to either: 1) Conduct with a pen, pencil, or baton if they have one 2) Conduct with their hands (no supplies needed)
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will use Youtube to listen to recordings and practice conducting.
