Description
Class Experience
Students in this course will: 1. Learn about famous conductors 2. Learn how to cue, start, and stop a piece of music 3. Learn how to conduct in different time signatures 4. Learn how to conduct different dynamics 5. Learn how to conduct a symphony!
I am a professional musician with a doctorate degree in flute performance from Michigan State University, a masters in flute performance from Southern Methodist University, and bachelors degrees in music performance and music therapy from the University of Georgia. I have experience both performing in and conducting orchestras around the world! I have played professionally in the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and I have performed in countries like Argentina, Italy, Ireland, Canada, and England.
Students in this course are expected to practice their conducting techniques for about 10 minutes in front of a mirror, every day after class.
Students may choose to either: 1) Conduct with a pen, pencil, or baton if they have one 2) Conduct with their hands (no supplies needed) A supplementary printable workbook will be provided prior to the start of this camp.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners are assessed individually by the teacher during class, and are given specific, positive and encouraging feedback depending on the learner.
3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
