Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
In this 1 - week (5 sessions) interactive camp, we are going to travel along with Jack and Annie to the moon. In each class, we will work on different skills. These skills include comprehension, predictions, vocabulary, and research. On the last day, each student will have the opportunity to present their project! This project will be assigned on the first day of class so that they have all class to complete the assignment.

On the first day, each student will pick a planet. They will do some research on their planet to learn some facts or take facts that we learned in our class. They will create their own story with characters, a setting, and a plot. For example, "Mercury and Venus are neighbors on Solar System Way. They often go swimming together because they are closest to the sun. Mercury is about 800 degrees Fahrenheit, so he gets very hot!" The students can choose how they would like to present their project to the class. They can opt to just simply read their story, or be as creative as they want and use BookCreator on the iPad to make their own story. It is completely up to them. I will provide a PDF outlining the project, as well as some other PDFs to help them along with their research.

My 3rd and 4th graders read this book and participated in this project. The administration loved it so much, that some students were able to read their stories to the school board members and district administration.
