Middle School/Key Stage 3 French 1, With Kim. Cycle 2 of a Year Long Course.

This 6 week course is for students starting to learn French. It will focus mainly on conversations in French. I will introduced adjectives to describe people, animals etc. Some basic reading and writing skill will also be taught.

Projects
This Cycle's Project will be designing a Wanted poster for someone who has stolen items from the local shops. They will describe the person and list the items the person has stolen.
Grading
I will provide verbal feedback in class and written feedback for students and parents after each class.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
This Cycle will focus on Speaking and Listening Skills, but will include a small Reading and Writing component. 
Learners will learn how to describe themselves, other people, pets, clothes etc using adjectives. 
We will learn how to buy clothes and other items in shops in France.
Learners will recognise numbers 1-100 in French.
This Cycle's Project will be designing a Wanted poster for someone who has stolen items from the local shops. They will describe the person and list the items the person has stolen.
Students are welcome to submit written work and videos of the conversations via the Classroom Page at any point. I will provide feedback as soon as possible.

Syllabus

over 6 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Describing ourselves, our pets and our clothes.
 Using adjectives to describe ourselves, our pets and our clothes.
An introduction to masculine and feminine nouns in their singular and plural forms and their matching adjectives. We will use colour adjectives to describe our hair and eye colour and to describe our pets and our clothes.

Lesson 2:
An introduction to avoir and être in the present tense. Descriptions.
 We will look at avoir (to have) and être (to be) in the present tense. We will use these verbs and the adjectives we learned last week to describe and recognise different people and animals.
We will discuss this Cycle's Project.

Lesson 3:
Buying clothes at the shop. How to say an item is too big/small/the correct size
 Using the adjectives of colour etc we have learned already to ask for clothes in a shop. We will comment if the item is too big/too small/ the correct size. We will practise numbers 1-100 and use them for prices.

Lesson 4:
Identifying which shop we need to visit to buy items. Asking the way.
 Although you can buy MOST things at 'le supermarché' in France, it is fun to go to specialist shops in town to buy things. Students will learn the names of various shops in town and practise asking the way to various shops. They will ask for 1 or 2 items in each shop.

Learning Needs
I have experience of teaching learners with unique learning needs and disabilities, such as ASD. Please let me know about your child's needs and I will make adjustments, such as additional processing time and differentiated written work.
Supply List
Handouts will be provided for each class and on requests about topics that students are interested in. Handouts will be differentiated according to students' stated additional needs.
Students will need a system of making notes during the class. They are welcome to watch the class recording after the class, pausing the recording when necessary, and making notes then if that is easier.
A French/English paper or online dictionary can be helpful.

I am a French graduate and qualified teacher (B.A. Honours in French and English, PGCE in Secondary French and Elementary school subjects with French). I have lived and worked in France and have taught French at all levels of school (Elementary to High School, including exam classes). 
I have current experience of teaching French 1 and French 2 online with Outschool.
