Class Experience
😀 SIX SERIOUS BUT FUN WEEKS!!! 😀 Relieve math anxiety and gain confidence! Join this class, have FUN. This class is highly interactive, and everyone will have a chance to participate! ***I ENCOURAGE ALL STUDENTS TO KEEP YOUR VIDEO ON!!! 😀 This multiplication class includes "number sense". Don't just memorize...understand. When students take this course, they should already understand multiplication and have previously learned the multiplication facts. We will sing songs, watch...
Students will learn and retain the multiplication tables from 2 to 12.
Practice is assigned after every class. Completing this practice is an important part of the process of retaining the multiplication tables.
Students will receive class notes one day before class. They need to print these notes and bring them to class. ***Do not fill the notes in prior to class*** If students aren't able to print notes, then they need to bring plain paper or a notebook to write in. Pencil and eraser, of course!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students can self-assess during each class. Throughout this "series" I devote two classes to formal assessments.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be using: - Kahoot! - This is a multiple-choice game. Students will need to bring an additional device, such as a phone or tablet. Or, they will need to know how to split their computer screen. This is because the question is on one screen and they answer or play on another screen. Students will also need to go to www.kahoot.it and enter a PIN number to sign in. I provide the PIN number during class. - Google Slides - The class will view the slides on my shared screen. As we learn, I will be writing on the slides. - Google Docs - There will be two quizzes which are formatted on a Google doc. I will provide the link in chat and the students can do their work individually. - Timestables.com - This site is also screen-shared. We use this for the "speed test" and "multiple choice".
