Class Experience

As a current veteran high school math teacher and a college instructor, I believe that foundation of building math skills is developing in early age. Middle school is the perfect time to learn algebra and geometry getting ready for high school calculus courses.
In this ongoing class, I will present only high level math problems that take time to comprehend and solve. I am not modeling the process, rather lead students through it.
Week 1 of May 7th: Percents, percents, percents
Week 2 of May 14th: Fractions and how to avoid the fear of them.
Week 3 of May 21st: Rate of change in linear equations and get ready for calculus
Week 4 of May 28th: Ratios and get ready for trig equations.
Week 5 of June 7th: Exponential and quadratic function

I will introduce a concept, then present a problem that we discuss together. All problems are funny and we will laugh solving them. After solving a few problems, we will play Gimkit or Kahoot.
