Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Learners will practice the following skills: reading a text analytically, annotating a text, reading a text for different arguments, organizing an argument, proving a claim using CSER (claim, support, evidence, reasoning), finding supporting evidence, structuring an argument essay, how to give productive feedback, and how to read their text with an eye for revision and editing.
I have a Master's of Education degree and I am a certified teacher with over ten years experience in education. I am certified in K-6 elementary education, 7-12 social studies education, 7-12 language arts education, and K-12 Reading education.
Learners may need to work on reading and or writing outside of class.
1 file available upon enrollmentI will provide any needed handouts.
I will give learners informal, verbal feedback, and targeted, written feedback throughout the course. Learners will also engage in productive, positive, peer feedback.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will use several public domain short stories, such as 'The Three Little Pigs' (our mentor text). Learners will self select stories from several options.
