Middle School Theatre Ensemble: What You Need to Be An Actor!

We'll work on acting through scripts and improvisation. We will practice scenes and monologues from plays and movies and we will look at how a director works with actors in the theater and on camera. It's an acting class.......but so much more!

Class Experience

This course is a weekly equivalent of a middle school (maybe high school or undergraduate theater course.) However, it's guaranteed to be a lot more fun!

As an ongoing class, students will develop an ensemble of theater artists working together to learn and grow. The club members will determine our focus each week.

Expected activities include:

--working on contemporary theatrical monologues
--rehearsing and presenting scenes between two or more actors from contemporary and classic plays
--learning the fundamentals of playwriting as we write monologues and scenes for each other to perform
--creating our own characters and scenes
--developing work together through ensemble creative process
--developing an understanding of the director's role in working with actors and rehearsing plays
--gaining confidence in auditions

However, if there is interest in performing a scene from a favorite movie or TV show, that's absolutely going to happen!

Vaudeville routines? Sure. Commedia dell'Arte? I've got you covered.

It's all the social benefits of a drama club.....but with a highly experienced (but relentlessly amusing) instructor.

Please contact me with any questions about this course.
