What's included
Class Experience
Hola and welcome to this first semester of middle school Spanish flex course! This course is intended for beginner students that have little to no Spanish language learning experience. This course has NO live classes, all videos used in this class are pre recorded, however there will be student interaction through discussion boards, feedback and "office hours" (all explained below). All weeks will include grammar as well as culture (each week will focus on a different Spanish speaking country). I love to make the class engaging by using Spanish music, interactive videos such as Ed. Puzzles, online games and more! How does this course work? Each Monday morning I (teacher) will use the Outschool message board to upload a link to a Google slideshow that will have the instructions and links used for that week. The slides will include an instructional video made by me, a link to a presentation where students will have access to Quizlet (virtual flashcards and games), ed puzzles (these are youtube or Khan Academy videos that have questions placed throughout them to challenge the students to think about the material be taught for that particular week), activities such as word searches, matching, fill in the blank, online games (when applicable), youtube videos that reflect the material (both grammar and culture), and worksheets which provide extra practice. Also included each week will be a prompt for students to use on the outschool message board (culture related) and this will encourage student/student interaction. I will assess students weekly based on their contributions and interactions. I will give feedback to students via comments as well as personal messages, I will never ever embarrass a student and I think that it is very important that students feel they have a safe welcoming environment to share their newly acquired skills. I will have an optional zoom session "office hours" once a week for any student that may have extra questions. There will be no grade for this class, however students are encouraged to complete all of the assignments in order to increase their Spanish knowledge. Each Sunday will end the previous week and Monday will begin new content. Students should expect to spend up to 4 hours a week on this course. This course is 12 weeks long, which is only the first half of the full year of middle school Spanish.
