Class Experience

Taught by certified educators and fluent Spanish/English speakers, this is a full dual immersion curriculum that will cover middle school common core standards. Due to the fact that this is an ongoing course, students can join at any time. No prior knowledge is required. 

This two-way dual immersion course is designed for both native Spanish and English speakers and will be taught in both languages 50-50. 

"Two-way immersion (TWI) is a distinctive form of dual language education in which balanced numbers of native English speakers and native speakers of the partner language are integrated for instruction so that both groups of students serve in the role of language model and language learner at different times." -Center for Applied Linguistics

Students will receive optional practice after each class.

Unit 1:
September 4:  Vocabulary (Travel) & Verbs in the Present Tense
September 11: Regular Verbs & "Boot" Verbs (Stem-changing Verbs)
September 18: Spelling-changers & Irregular Verbs
September 25: Interrogatives & Subject Pronouns

Unit 2:
October 2: Vocabulary (Cooking) & Verbs in the Preterite Tense
October 9: Conjunctions 

Unit 3:
October 9:  Vocabulary (At Home)
October 16: Verbs in the Imperfect Tense & The Preterite or the Imperfect
October 23: The Progressive Tense 

Unit 4:
October 23: Vocabulary (Sports)
October 30: The Present Perfect Tense & Articles (Definite and Indefinite)
November 6: The uses of "ser" and "estar" & Past Participles as adjectives

Unit 5:
November 13: Vocabulary ( Fall and Winter) & The Pluperfect Tense
November 20: Object Pronouns & Direct Object Pronouns (DOPs)
November 27: Indirect Object (IDOPs) & Reflexive Object Pronouns (ROPs)
December 4: The personal "a" & Possessive Adjectives

Unit 6:
December 11: Vocabulary (Machines) & Verbs in the Future Tense
December 18: Adverbs & Numbers
