Class Experience

In this semester long course (5-days a week), students will learn how to speak basic Spanish. This is the perfect class for a student just starting out with Spanish. Students will build a foundation of the Spanish language through listening, comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and culture. Through using multiple intelligence strategies, students are engaged and it makes learning fun and more effective.

My Qualifications:
I am a certified Spanish teacher. I have taught Spanish in public school for 6 years and have been an online teacher for the last 4. I have been to 15 Spanish-speaking countries. Because I've been to so many Spanish-speaking countries, I am able to call on my cultural experiences and tie them into every unit.

Curriculum:
I create my own lessons on google slides and canva. I will share my slides with the students after each lesson. We will use many online resources and educational games in our course like flippity, padlet, quizizz, quizlet, and more. We will sometimes have a worksheet as well as manipulatives that will need to be printed prior to class. Many of my lessons incorporate real life Spanish culture like art, music, architecture, traditions, and UNESCO World Heritige Sites.

Materials Needed:
- Notebook
- Writing utensil
- Printed puzzles and/or worksheets

Grading:
There will be many assignments and daily work in this class. I do not give assessments, instead I assign a project at the each of every unit. If you are taking this class for academic credit, please let me know when enrolling and I will give you access to a google sheets where I will share grades.

How I Teach:
Most days I will have slides that I will share with the students. On new lesson days I will begin with direct instruction. The students are encouraged to take notes during this time. After direct instruction, I will leave time for students to practice. We will utilitize the classroom chat to answer questions and translate. Some days may be indirect instruction where the students will work on projects, worksheets, speaking/listening activities, etc.

Class Buyouts (Group Classes):
If you are interested in this class for a group of learners such as a school class, PTA, after school group, etc. please contact me first, as I offer a discounted rate for 10+ students. Each individual learner must have their own account. It is recommended that each student have their own computer, to be able to fully engage and participate.

This class will start off with 30% Spanish and 70% English. Starting off at this ratio will slowly ease their way into learning a foreign language without becoming overwhelmed right away. We will slowly change this ratio as the class progresses. This class does not require your learner to know any Spanish. Learning Spanish will reinforce your learner's own language. The best time to learn a foreign language is at this age; their brain is designed for learning language. Learning a foreign language will enhance your learner's English skills and will allow them to advance faster in their own language.

By the end of the course, your learner will be able to put sentences together in Spanish and have a basic conversation. I look forward to teaching your learner. I hope to see you soon! ¡Hasta pronto!
