Teacher expertise and credentials
Career educator with 14 years of classroom teaching and school administrative experience with specializations in SEL support, Neurodiverse learning, and school community building. I am experienced in accommodations and modifications for learning differences and I specialize in working with marginalized learners. I am also experienced in providing support for school avoidance and learning strategies for ADHD, Autism, sensory and processing challenges, and Dyslexia.
I was inspired to earn my 200 YTT for Yoga and Mindfulness in 2018 after seeing the extreme need for more Social-Emotional Learning and stress-relief across every educational setting I was in. The Pandemic has only increased this need and I see students daily who need so much more support than they are getting. As an educator with a lot of experience and skills, I want to meet the need anywhere and everywhere I can, as also support parents in supporting their children during these hard times.
I began teaching, after earning my BS in Psychology, through a Master's Degree teaching program. I taught elementary school for 6 years in TN, CA, VA before moving into other parts of education. My TN credentials are in Early Childhood PreK-3 and another in K-8. I also have two elementary-school aged children of my own, so I am up to date on any changes since I was in the Elementary classroom. I taught Middle School and High School each year over summer school and transitioned back into the classroom as a full-time Middle and High School Health, Social Science, and Humanities teacher in 2020, after 5 years away working in Clinical, Administrative, and Consulting roles. I have School Administration experience including Master Teacher, Instructional Lead, and Head of School.
In addition to the field of education, I have professional experience in beginner-supervisory roles across mental health programs, youth residential treatment facilities, and clinical treatment settings including ABA therapy and facilitated social skills and support groups for qualified clients.
*Therapeutic conversations are not the focus of any class I teach. All classes I teach are for building strategies and skills.*
