Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Intermediate - Advanced Level
Welcome all mystery enthusiasts! From Sherlock Holmes to other current writers, this class discusses one short mystery per week. We investigate the characters, settings, plots, clues, alibies, and verdicts.

While the class is mostly for discussing the weekly conundrum with mystery fans, we also sift through the vocabulary, character development, and literary devices used by the author. Using Bloom's Taxonomy, I use questioning to drive the discussion to dig deeper into the mystery so that we unravel the mystery together.

I am a fun, exciting, engaging, patient, and understanding educator who enjoys teaching and learning. This attitude is evident in my classes. No boring teachers allowed!

Jubilant Tutoring strives to offer all learners a safe, friendly, encouraging, growth-bound environment. My teaching strategy is to facilitate the group, leaving most of the discussion to the young learners and letting them take the wheel often. Sharing ideas, thoughts, and questions is highly encouraged, and piggybacking off others is often met with applause. I have practiced facilitating writing groups in the upper elementary school classroom for over 20 years and have mastered facilitating an enjoyable, fun, engaging, and educational learning group where positive attitudes rule and friendly smiles are abundant.

Students will be expected to read the text before the session and be prepared for lively and exciting discussions.
