This quality middle school combination class will offer grades 6-8th grade Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. The session will last 15 weeks, on a FLEX format.

Quality middle school science curriculum provided by a certified science teacher on a FLEX format. Mrs. Collins has 22 years of teaching experience, and is excited about providing a combination 6-8th grade science course covering the basic standards and fun labs for Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science. EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCES Space Systems History of Earth Earth's Systems Weather and Climate Human Impacts LIFE SCIENCE Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems Growth, Development of Organisms These are the standards we will be covering semester 1. Semester 2 will finish the units of Life Science and Physical Science.
Mrs. Collins has been teaching science for 22 years. She loves to provide engaging science labs and lively lectures.
Students will be given a lesson, and then 1-2 further inquiry based assignments will be given. Students are encouraged to log in once a week for the lesson, and then a second time to work on the assignments. On average the student should devote 2 hours a week for the class. Additional monthly projects and research will also be given for more comprehension skills, so additional time will be needed for projects.
spiral notebook (Mrs. Collins will direct the labels for the table of contents) pen/pencils colored pencils vinegar, baking soda Styrofoam balls, paint, string, ruler basketball, light source Ziploc bag, permanent markers, water, blue food coloring marbles, casserole dish, flour, chocolate food coloring clay in 4 colors, spoon, napkin, dish shoebox, construction paper, tape rocks of different sizes cheese powder, chenille sticks, flower template, juice box starburst candy scissors supplies for a water table (clear container, sand or dirt, water) *Please don't use anything your child is allergic too. If you do not have the supplies, then the student can also watch the lab video created by the teacher instead.
Families will be given a link to take an assessment over Earth Science, and the first portion of Life Science. The rest of Life Science will begin in Semester 2.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will use Quizlet, an approved Outschool platform for 3 test. Assessments are optional.
