This is an introductory science course and is the basis for further study of physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, and other sciences. This course involves the investigation of temperature and heat. Students will be conducting an experiments and learning to analyze their results. Mathematical skills through pre-algebra are used in problem solving. Moderate workload can be expected through projects/assignments requiring out of class effort. This is an blended learning course with the implementation of technology. Students will be given an digital interactive notebook with lesson to complete every week. Every class period students will have a warm up, direct instruction, individiual practice, and exit ticket. We will also have class discussions and video clips. Sequence for this course: Week 1: Temperature depends on particle movement Warm up Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket Week 2: Energy flows from warmer to cooler object Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket Week 3: The transfer of energy as heat can be controlled Warm up Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket Week 4: Final Project: Video Project Warm up Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket
Learning Goals
1. Learn how kinetic energy is the basis of temperature
2. Learn about the differences between temperature and heat, and how temperature changes in different substances.
3. Learn how energy is transferred through heat, andhow that transfer can be controlled.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a currently a certified science teacher that teaches a Physical Science, Biology (Regular and AP), Oil and Gas Production, and T-2 Safety Systems. I feel that my course will be different because I have designed my for every learning style. I believe that is more than one way that a child can show me they understand the content. I allow them to have a choice and create a product to show me they understand.
