This is an introductory science course and is the basis for further study of physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, and other sciences. This course involves the investigation of energy. Students will be conducting an experiments and learning to analyze their results. Mathematical skills through pre-algebra are used in problem solving. Moderate workload can be expected through projects/assignments requiring out of class effort.This is an blended learning course with the implementation of technology. Students will be given an digital interactive notebook with lesson to complete every week. Every class period students will have a warm up, direct instruction, individiual practice, and exit ticket. We will also have class discussions and video clips. Sequence for this course: Week 1: Energy exists in different forms Warm up Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket Week 2: Energy can change forms but is never lost Warm up Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket Week 3: Technology improves the ways people uses energy Warm up Direct Instruction Individual Practice Exit Ticket Week 4: Final Project: What are the advantages and disadvantages of electric cars or What is the advantages of solar energy and wind energy as compared to fossil fuels?
