Class Experience

In this ongoing course, students will be introduced to a range of skills relating to music technology, including digital performance, recording, mixing, and video editing. These skills will be covered through project-based learning using and learning to use various music tech platforms.

Students will cover the following topics:
Week of August 29th: Music Scales, Theory, Notes
Week of September 5th: Audio Recording
Week of September 12th: Mixing Digital Uploads
Week of September 19th: Digital DJing
Week of September 26th: Video Editing
Week of October 3rd: Creating Music Videos

Students will meet once a week and access the music tech platforms on their own devices with the instructor's guidance. Due to the fact that this is ongoing course, students can join at any time. No prior knowledge is necessary as lessons are not designed to build on one another.

This is a project-based learning course. Therefore, students are taught through guided, conversational, and hands-on instruction to allow for creativity and student-centered learning.

When you sign up for this course, you will find instructions on what websites you will use during that week. We recommend reviewing these sites before class so that students are familiar with them.

Learners will interact with the instructor and other classmates often throughout the class. Projects will be interactive and include collaboration and verbal discussion to allow for a natural flow of synergy for student-led projects.
