Middle School Math 2 Prealgebra - FLEX - Conversions; Integers; Percentage: Order of Operations
What's included
Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Attention: I have received many requests for a placement test for my classes so I created two. This is for my classes for 4th through 8th grades. I also have another one for my Algebra classes. The link for that one is posted on the description for my Algebra 1 class. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KbTF1rLQGOVtveDRTSDYAuBdzkuvU-D4?usp=sharing In this flexible schedule class, students will learn: Week 1 - Percents Week 2 - Converting fractions, decimals, and percents Week 3 - Integers: Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing positive and negative numbers Week 4 - Order of operations A video will be posted at the beginning of each week. Students should have paper and pencil while watching the videos as time will be added within the video to complete practice problems. A discussion question will be posted in the classroom each week and students will be encouraged to join in the discussion by answering the question(s) and replying to other students. I will also be participating in the discussion. Math articles may also be used occasionally to facilitate class discussions. In addition to homework problems, a quiz will be provided each week which students can turn in for grading and feedback. A picture of the quiz can be sent to me by uploading it to my Dropbox folder through the link I will give you. You do not have to have a Dropbox account to upload the homework to my folder. I use the gradual release method of teaching: " I do, we do, you do" - First, I demonstrate how to do it (using several examples). - Next, the students do some problems along with me. - Finally, they complete some problems on their own that I will check for accuracy and give more guidance if needed. Practice homework will be provided along with a full answer key for checking the answers. However, there will be no answer key provided for the quizzes since I will be grading them to offer feedback. I always include every step in my answer keys so students and parents can see where any errors were made.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a Florida certified teacher who taught middle school for 10 years and I have been teaching mathematics to homeschoolers from grades k-12, both in person and online for over 2 years. I always wanted to be a teacher, and I am living the dream!
In addition, since 2008, I have been writing and publishing mathematics and English/language arts teaching resources. Therefore, I will be providing all teaching materials for my class(es) for free.
I do my best to eliminate the fear some students have of mathematics by making my lessons easy to understand with plenty of examples taught step-by-step. In fact, the reason I began writing lessons/workbooks as a teacher was because I was frustrated with the textbooks in my classroom. They were often outdated, and math textbooks often seem to leave out steps necessary for students to fully understand more advanced topics, assuming, sometimes incorrectly, that students remember all steps from a previous lesson. In addition, I encourage students to ask questions.
