This is a rigorous course with many readings, discussion questions, and assessments to complete each week. Please make sure your child has four or more hours each week to complete the work.4+ hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed on the standards listed in the course description. Assessments will be shared with the teacher through Google Docs. The teacher will score the assessments with feedback and place the scores into an online gradebook. We will be reading the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor. I wanted you to be aware of possible sensitive topics that this novel addresses. Due to the historical context of this novel (set in the South in the early 1930's), there are racial topics addressed that depict the attitude of the time period. The theme for this unit is Decisions That Matter. Literary skills will include point of view, character motivation, figurative language, and theme.
