Description

Class Experience

Prior to the class, students should type a one page, double spaced, expository / informational essay on a Google Doc that he/she is prepared to share with the teacher and class. This is the rough draft copy! We will be editing it during class. More information under the Learner Supply List.
A one-page double spaced piece of creative writing on a Google Doc is required prior to class. Writing can be longer but as we will need ample time to review and extend the piece I would suggest no longer than three pages. Remember, this is a rough draft! Please share the writing with lindsey.boevers9415@gmail.com prior to the beginning of class. The teacher will need either editing or commenting rights for class. Also, in the message box type the name of the class (Middle School Informational / Expository Writing Workshop), section you plan to attend (time/date) and your name. You can write about whatever you desire but if you need a prompt there are some options for inspiration below. In an essay, explain how disappointments can have a good side. Write an essay explaining why someone you care about is important to you. Write an essay to explain why honesty is important in a friendship.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The teacher will post 2-4 comments on the Google Doc with opportunities for growth. These will be focused on the student's individual needs but could include word choice, sentence structure, spelling, a strong thesis statement, focusing support for the argument etc. Parents can review these comments to see recommendations for their child.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
