In this homeroom course, the focus will be on building an educational and supportive learning community. Students will meet twice per week for 30 minute sessions to engage in conversation and collaborative problem solving with their peers. Each meeting will consist of a theme, and will include a conversation starter and an educational puzzle or brain-teaser. Learning goals for Middle School Homeroom will be to boost students' connection to an online learning community, and to build age-appropriate academic skills in science, math, and language arts.
I have a lot of experience working with middle school students. I have a bachelor's degree in secondary education and worked as a middle school teacher in a private school and a homeschool co-op.
No homework will be assigned for this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
