The 5-paragraph academic is a fundamental skill for academic success. It is also a formula that can be recognized, understood, and then replicated for success in any subject area. Learners in this class will learn the essential ingredients in an essay, and then work together to identify them in a sample essay. Students will learn the essential ingredients of the 5-paragraph academic essay and the skills necessary to produce their own successfully.
I have been a middle school and senior level English teacher for more than 20 years.
Homework Offered
Students will have homework following each class - developing arguments, planning outlines, and composing an original essay.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will all receive personalized feedback on their final essays following the marking scheme / essay checklist that we use in class.Grades Offered
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Note taking sheets, outlines and marking schemes will be provided during the class.
