You need your own copies of the novel *Treasure Island* by Robert Louis Stevenson. Click here to buy the MASS MARKET PAPERBACK version of the novel. Mrs. Lemons will provide everything else. https://www.amazon.com/Treasure-Island-Signet-Classics-Stevenson/dp/1101990325/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=treasure+island&qid=1623806334&refinements=p_n_feature_browse-bin%3A2656022011&rnid=618072011&s=books&sr=1-4
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
GRADES:
I give specific and authentic feedback on student writing through the teacher tab of the classroom and on Google Docs. If you require formal grades, please ask, and I will provide them.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
CONTENT THIS SEMESTER:
*Treasure Island,* written in 1883, has some archaic racist language, which I handle by discussing the historical context in which the book was written and the meaning and connotation of the word then, good or bad. The novel also has pirates drinking, smoking, and chewing tobacco, and there is some violence, although it is not gory. Check out parent reviews at commonsensemedia.org.
