Class Experience
What will be taught? In this sectional class for low brass and woodwinds, students will work on specific techniques, practice strategies, and musical elements related to their instrument in the context of the Middle School Band With Frapp: Virtual Concert Band program. What topics will you cover? Instrument-specific techniques and warm-ups Strategies for practicing challenging passages Tips for blending with other instruments in the ensemble Addressing any technical or musical challenges...
By the end of this sectional class, students will be able to: Apply instrument-specific techniques and warm-ups to enhance their tone, intonation, and overall performance on their instrument. Develop effective strategies for practicing challenging passages in the assigned concert band piece. Understand their instrument's role in the ensemble and apply tips for blending with other instruments in the virtual concert band. Address and overcome any technical or musical challenges related to their instrument in the context of the assigned concert band piece. Collaborate with fellow musicians in a supportive and constructive environment, fostering teamwork, communication, and mutual growth. Gain confidence in their abilities as musicians and develop a greater appreciation for the power of ensemble playing in a concert band setting.
It is expected that students will practice the piece we are working on.
Assessment will be informal and individualized.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
