Class Experience

In this class we learn about art theory, art history, art careers, how to keep a journal/artist sketchbook, how to put together a show, and how to submit to a contest. There are thousands of videos on YouTube that teach techniques but I offer the deeper learning and understanding of art making.
The first 10-15 minutes of class we will learn about the artistic theory, technique or history of the project. There will then be a time for discussion, sketches and brainstorming and a demonstration from either myself or a curated video from another artist. The student will then be guided through the process with constructive feedback and thoughtful reflection.

Parental Guidance
Projects that are not finished during the given class time can be finished outside of class time. Students are expected to gather their supplies before class begins.
Supply List
Mixed Media Sketchbook is a must for this class. This will be where we make our sketches, take notes, brainstorm, and create our final projects.
I recommend a good set of acrylic paint but you my use whatever medium you like best, each project will be an exploration of what the medium you want to use. We are going to be focused on process and creativity. This is not a step-by-step guided drawing. Please make sure you do have basic art supplies such as
-Pencil and eraser
-Dry colors such as: crayons, markers, colored pencils, and/or oil pastels
-Paints: acrylic, tempera and/or watercolor with brushes and water cup
-a ruler or other straight edge (a clear plastic ruler is best)

Students will also need to be able to take digital pictures so that the teacher can view the projects and provide feedback and so that students can complete their virtual Art Show. If students do not want feedback or to participate in the Art Show digital photos will not be necessary.
External Resources
