Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will know all the sounds for the 26 single letter phonogram. 
Students will be able to identify the six types of syllables. 
Students will understand vowel teams, schwa, and r controlled vowels. 
Students will understand how grammar and meaning impact spelling and pronunciation. 
Students will learn and use common morphemes. 
I have completed degrees in elementary education and english with emphasis on literacy and children's literature. I have been working with dyslexic learners for ten years and have completed workshops and instructional programming on various Orton-Gillingham inspired approaches which are utilized in this class. 
Students will be provided with practice games and review activities to complete outside of class.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will have a weekly dictation quiz which can be shared with the learner's parent/guardian. No numerical or letter grades are provided to students. 
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
