Class Experience

This 45-minute tutoring session is designed for students in grades 7-12 seeking individualized support for their academic needs in English, Language Arts, and Reading. Whether your student is working on literary analysis, writing assignments, or needs assistance with reading comprehension, I will meet your student where they are and help them work through the material. My goal is for students to receive the extra support they might need beyond the classroom and, ultimately, feel more confident as a learner.

Example A: Your student might come to class with the rubric and prompt for a writing assignment assigned by their English teacher. Through this tutoring session, I will work with your student to ensure they understand the prompt and assist in the brainstorming and outlining process. Your student might then benefit from an additional session for us to workshop the rough draft and revise and edit as needed.

Example B: Perhaps your student has been assigned chapters of a novel to read for class (e.g. To Kill a Mockingbird, Fahrenheit 451), but they are struggling to understand the reading and accompanying comprehension questions. We can read and talk through difficult passages together and, through this guided conversation, your student will receive assistance with any analysis questions.

The mission of this tutoring session is for your student to receive guidance and support so they can be empowered to arrive at their own conclusions and understanding of the material.

Prior to your first session, send me any assignments from your English class that you want to work on or a brief overview of the kinds of topics you need help with the most. This will help me prepare for our session so we can make the most efficient use of our time.
