This course will be taught by modeling the basic word skills outlined below and allowing students to follow along as they go on their own devices. I like to provide a very open class environment where learners are prompted to ask questions or for clarification often. This course is designed for students who have little to no experience with Microsoft Word. The class will be divided into two parts: 1. Learning and Practicing the Basics of Word - creating and opening documents - the menu bar - fonts (style, size, color, alignment) - inserting and formatting images - creating basic tables - adding and formatting shapes - creating and editing bulleted/numbered lists - adding icons (similar to clipart) - word art - page layout (orientation, margins, size, page color) - headers/footers/page numbers 2. Applying the Basics of Word Students will be creating a poster or flyer in Word. I will go around and check-in with students continually to answer questions and provide support. If time allows, we will share our projects with the class.
- a device with access to Microsoft Word (this is free for most, if not all, public school students through their school email login)
Hello! My name is Maddie. I am a mom and third grade teacher in Indiana. I love working with children and teaching is a huge passion of mine!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and am licensed to teach grades K-6. I have several years of both teaching and tutoring experience, primarily in grades 1-4.
I truly enjoy getting to know students' strengths and identifying areas for growth. Tutoring allows me to design lessons and activities that engage the individual student in ways that aren't always possible in a classroom setting.
