Description
Class Experience
As a health and STEM teacher of many years, I have lots of experience teaching about microbiology and germ science to students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.
All supplies listed are strongly recommended, but not necessary to participate in the camp. -glitter OR glo-germ with a UV light (available on Amazon) -slice of bread and a zip-loc bag -colored paper and paper-clips OR red water beads, small Styrofoam balls, sequins and push-pins -play-dough
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
COVID-19 may be briefly mentioned in a scientific discussion of different types of germs. We will use the third-party application "Pear Deck", a program that allows teachers to create interactive slides. Students will need an email address to access the slides, but it will not be visible to other students. We will visit the CDC museum website to go on a virtual field trip to the CDC museum's influenza exhibit.
