Description
Class Experience
To become familiar with insect anatomy To view insects under microscope To compare parts of different insects, noting differences
I have my BS of Science in Biology, which included studies in Histology and Microbiology. I have taught microscopy within High School Biology Lab setting at local Co-op, as well as on-line through the Outschool platform. Personally I am an ever curious Biologist - I've studies mammalogy, marine biology, ornithology, microbiology, aquatic entomology and more. In my classroom I encourage my students to explore and follow there curiosity, ask questions and find answers. I enjoy incorporating traditional learning with technology, helping students gain a deeper understanding material in practical ways.

compound microscope prepared insect slides **Often included in basic biology prepared slide set - in spring/ summer....we will talk about that in lab! print grasshopper model
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parent supervision at parent discretion, slides are often made of glass unless listed as plastic. Glass slides provide clearer image. We will be using compound microscopes for this course, learners not familiar with microscope will need to watch video prior to class, Ensure learner is able to safely focus microscope on their own: coarse adjustment only under low power, fine adjustment when using Med/ Hi. (Explained in pre-class video) Learners have option of taking picture through microscope lens using digital camera of phone or other digital device, optional.
