This lesson will be broken up into three parts, one part for each geological rock layer during the Mesozoic Era (the Triassic, the Jurassic & the Cretaceous Period). During each part we will discuss how the super continent of Pangea changed over time, how mass extinctions changed the environment, and how animals called the dinosaurs grew to such enormous sizes. Students will also learn that not all dinosaurs lived together, depending on the time period they lived in or where they lived on...
Students will go back in time in order to increase their knowledge of the Mesozoic Era when dinosaurs roamed our planet. Learners should go away with an understanding of what a dinosaur actually is, what our planet looked like 65 million years ago, and how mass extinctions have diversified animal species overtime.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will refer to many visuals including our slides presentation, our replica fossil collection and our many dinosaur figures.
