Additionally, students will be introduced to BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division/Multiplication, Addition/Subtraction) for handling mixed operations using mental strategies. This camp is designed for elementary students seeking to enhance their mental math skills in a fun and engaging environment. What will be taught? Mastery of mental addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with up to 3-digit numbers. Introduction to BEDMAS for mixed operations. Development of quick mental strategies for solving complex arithmetic problems. Topics Covered: Foundations of Mental Arithmetic Mental Addition Techniques Mental Subtraction Techniques Combining Addition and Subtraction Advanced Mental Strategies Mental Multiplication Techniques Mental Division Techniques Introduction to BEDMAS for Mixed Operations Class Structure: Each session will last 50 minutes, structured as follows: Introduction and Warm-up (5 minutes): Brief overview of the day’s topic and a warm-up activity to get students thinking mathematically. Instruction and Demonstration (20 minutes): Detailed explanation and demonstration of mental math techniques using visual aids and examples. Practice and Application (20 minutes): Hands-on practice with a variety of problems, allowing students to apply the techniques learned. Discussion and Feedback (5 minutes): Interactive discussion to address any questions, provide feedback, and reinforce key concepts.
