Class Experience

Feelings are powerful and can become overwhelming at times. Both children and adults might struggle to manage their responses to their feelings. As a result, in this lesson learners will be able to list and describe several different techniques that can be used to manage stress effectively. Everyone experiences stress at some time or the other. That is why it is so important to know how to effectively manage stress. The more options you have for keeping stress under control, the better you will be able to cope with the stressors you experience throughout your daily life.
This lesson will be delivered with a mixture of discussions and presentations using a discussion format, asking students to share their thoughts and ideas about stress management (students will not be forced to share if they are not willing to). Strategies and life skills to navigate their way through tough situations and handle them in a more calm, purposeful way will be presented and discussed.
Learning Outcome: Use the lists generated from class discussions to create a stress management techniques document that students can use as a point of reference for dealing with their own circumstances, as well as to serve as a study guide to demonstrate mastery of stress management strategies. Learner do not require any previous experience or background knowledge to succeed in this class.
This class offers information about mental health, non-medical symptom management strategies and techniques to handle day-to-day stress or anxiety. However, this class is not aimed at leaners with diagnosed medical conditions, trauma or grief.
