Class Experience
Learners are to read the book in its entirety before coming to class. We will not be reading the book in class, but simply discussing the book. This class will meet every other week. We will discuss one book per session. Learners do not need to attend previous sessions, as the classes do not build on each other. I have taught and tutored for about twenty years. I hold a current teaching certificate in K-8 elementary school, with a focus on math. I am halfway to my master's in secondary math. My son is a member of Mensa.
Learners will be required to read the book in its entirety before coming to class. We will not be reading the book in class, but simply discussing the book.
Grade 4-6 Book list: https://www.mensaforkids.org/achieve/excellence-in-reading/excellence-in-reading-4-6-list/ Required texts - the versions do not matter. The ISBN is for the copy that I have. However, as we are not reading from the book in class, the specific version does not matter. You can find most copies available at your local library.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Adult helpers should preview and approve each book before participating in each session. If you do not wish to participate in a particular book session, please be sure to withdraw from the class before Sunday, when Outschool renews your subscription. This website and link does not need to be accessed after the list has been printed. This website will not be accessed during class. No Mensa membership or account is required. To receive the t-shirt, the adult helper will need to fill out the form and mail it to Mensa.
