In this 3 class section, we find ways to mend what we have be it a sweater with a hole or a stuffy with a missing eye, using basic hand sewing skills on learner led projects.
Class experience
This class is part of our Self Sufficiency Series! We will be looking at ways to mend the things that we have already. Your learner will need to be comfortable or aided with needles, thread and scissors. Please bring items to the class that need mending. We won't be covering soldering in this class so metal items or items requiring toxic glues to repair will have to wait until another class. This section is for soft items such as clothing or toys. Yvonne is a homeschooling mum of 2 with many years mending and sewing experience. As a musician for many years, mending up clothes was far less expensive than buying new ones. I've led many hand sewing/mending classes during my years as a Girl Guide leader.
You will need a sewing needle, an embroidery needle (one with a blunt end would work for sweaters and sometimes stuffies depending on the material), buttons of various sizes and colours, scissors, thread, embroidery thread (nothing fancy required, thin yarn will work too),
